Stará škola Incubator in Kunovice

Intro of the project

This former elementary school building (Stará škola, or “Old School”) has been located at the main intersection in the centre of the city of Kunovice since 1886. The dilapidated building had stood unused since 2014 and the city thus undertook its radical reconstruction. In 2020, a new business incubator space was opened on the site, thus building on the success of the already operating Pánský dvůr incubator. With a usable area of more than 1,800 m², the facility offers twenty-seven offices, a foyer with services, a meeting room for short-term rental and, of course, kitchen facilities for tenants on each floor. A spacious relaxation area for all tenants in the whole incubator building, including access to a common terrace, is situated directly at the exit of the stairwell. Due to strong interest in the incubator’s services, it was almost fully occupied immediately after opening.

The investment costs of the project “Expansion of the Infrastructure of the Kunovice Business Incubator – Stará škola” amounted to CZK 84.9 million excl. VAT, of which 50% was financed with funding from European Union Structural Funds within the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness (Infrastructure Services) and 50% of the investment costs were financed with the City of Kunovice’s own funding. Financing for the facility’s operation is provided from the city’s resources.
